Elvira, Mistress of the Dark returns with a new song and video Don’t Cancel Halloween

With Halloween likely going to be very different this year thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark has returned with a simple plea: ‘Don’t Cancel Halloween.’

The iconic horror character, played for nearly 40 years by Cassandra Peterson, debuted a new song on Tuesday entitled Don’t Cancel Halloween.

She adds that this year Halloween is ‘on a Saturday and they’re predicting great weather,’ and that, ‘they say it’ll be the best Halloween ever.’

She then started singing and dancing to an ever-changing spooky background from everything from a stormy night to COVID-19 particles.

‘I’m the Queen of Halloween / COVID-19 ruined everything / If they cancel Halloween ’cause we’re still in quarantine, it would make me so mad / It would suck, it would suck so bad,’ the Mistress of the Dark continues, with one shot featuring Peterson in a full hazmat suit.

She adds if Halloween is shut down there will ‘no trick or treating’ or ‘no dudes cross-dressing’ adding it’s ‘so depressing.’

After admitting it’s her ‘favorite night’ in the last verse, she admits that Halloween is even more scary ‘during a deadly pandemic.’

She then seemingly took a shot at President Trump, admitting the ‘scariest thing about Halloween is, ‘that big, fat scary orange face,’ before picking up a plastic jack-o-lantern and coyly stating, ‘Who did you think I was talking about?’

Elvira then poked fun at the numerous variations of Halloween costumes including Tiger King, before pleading her fans to, ‘Stay at home on Halloween.’  

She ended the song by proclaiming, ‘I’m the Queen of Halloween/COVID-19 ruined everything.’
